While market-to-table cuisine might be typical these days, it wasn't the case when L'Etoile opened in 1976. Odette Piper was one of the chefs that made it so. In 2005, Piper sold her interest to Tori (executive chef) and Traci Miller, and they have done a good job of continuing her mission; one reviewer said, "The restaurant has never lost focus of what it stands for." It's kept the faith so well, that in 2010 it and its "amazing wine list" moved down the street into a larger and more comfortable space. But there's a divergent strain among the comments; one reviewer said that despite "great ingredients," a "cuisine that might have been unique 20 years ago seems generic today."
