You know the saying "Like father, like son." Well, the reverse is true in this case. In 1999, after 31 years in the aviation industry, Armandino Batali - dad to the famous Mario - traded in his Excel spreadsheets for a Berkel meat slicer and began making what some feel is the best salumi in the country. Now his daughter Gina carries on the tradition and on Tuesdays through Fridays you will find a line of people waiting to order a sandwich made from one of a dozen sausages or hot sandwiches filled with meatballs or porchetta. Reviewers show their love with comments like "Lines out the door, but worth it. Portions were huge yet disappeared" and "The balance of meat, cheese, and condiments is just perfect."
